Flying Solo
Flying Solo. While it's a catchy tag-line, my idea of flying solo involves working with a cast of countless others, including an incredible group of supporting artists and musicians, who help lift my songs from kitchen table lyrical scratchings and musical musings and usher them into the world in more fully realized forms.
Still, I’m a singer-songwriter. I bang out songs on an acoustic guitar and very often find myself alone at the microphone. Polishing Stone is my 4th solo record. It follows two children’s albums, the JUNO-nominated What’s the Big Idea?!?, featuring Sheesham & Lotus, and The Very Next Day, featuring the Woodshed Orchestra. Curving for the Coast, my first solo project, was written in Australia and recorded at Leopard Frog Studios, near Kingston, ON and features a host of fine musicians I continue to work with today. Throughout this period of working on solo projects, I have been one third of the acoustic trio, Fireweed. Together, we have performed at venues large and small, and at music festivals everywhere, known by our infamous tagline: Fireweed—A little like CSN … a lot less famous.
